My name is Mike Ward and I am the founder
of Nature Sport Science, the company that manufactures Hornet Juice all the way downunder in Auckland, New Zealand.

I lived in Asia for many years and it was there that I got hooked on triathlons. As part of the Hong Kong national team I competed around the region, even managing to win a few races in the process.

The grueling training regime that was required to be competitive forced me to develop a keen interest in sports nutrition.

Being based in Asia allowed me to access some unique substances that purported to offer an edge in athletic performance (all legal of course!).

These products ranged from the alternative to the traditional and to some that were simply "right out there", including turtle blood and caterpillar fungus (made famous by China’s controversial running coach Ma Junren).

I was lucky enough to be involved in the testing and trial of an amino acid based sports drink, which was developed from scientific research into the incredible feats of endurance of the Asian Giant Hornet.

The drink did so much for my training and racing performance that I acquired the manufacturing and distribution rights for it,
the outcome being Hornet Juice.
